The FFA signs up to the United Nations Environment Programme’s Principles for Sustainable Insurance
The French Insurance Federation undertakes to support and promote the UNEP-FI’s Principles for Sustainable Insurance.
The FFA has today signed up to the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI). These principles were drawn up by the UNEP-FI, the United Nations Environment Programme’s finance initiative. They define a framework to encourage the insurance sector to embed environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria in their decision-making:
- Principle 1
We will embed in our decision-making environmental, social and governance issues relevant to our insurance business.
- Principle 2
We will work together with our clients and business partners to raise awareness of environmental, social and governance issues, manage risk and develop solutions.
- Principle 3
We will work together with governments, regulators and other key stakeholders to promote widespread action across society on environmental, social and governance issues.
- Principle 4
We will demonstrate accountability and transparency in regularly disclosing publicly our progress in implementing the Principles.
The FFA’s decision to sign up to the Principles for Sustainable Insurance continues the work the industry has been doing for several years now to support sustainable development and the fight against climate change.
According to Bernard Spitz, President of the French Insurance Federation: “The FFA is proud to support the UNEP-FI programme by signing up to the Principles for Sustainable Insurance. This initiative demonstrates the industry’s commitment to the climate, in particular by embedding ESG and climate criteria in their investment strategies and developing a green or sustainable life insurance offer.”
