Life insurance: Negative net inflows in May 2020
Net inflows for May 2020 were - 2.2 billion euros.
From the start of the year, insurance companies collected 44.4 billion Euros of premiums (compared to 61.9 billion Euros over the same period in 2019).
Payments to unit-linked products accounted for 15.5 billion Euros from the start of the year, i.e. 35 % of premiums.
Over the same period insurance companies paid out benefits of 48.4 billion Euros (49.2 billion euros in 2019).
Net inflows of the year were – 4,0 billion Euros (compared to 12.7 billion euros over the same period in 2019).
At end May 2020 in-force life insurance business (mathematical provisions + profit sharing provisions) stood at 1 754 billion Euros.
