Life insurance: Negative net inflows in March 2020

Net inflows for March 2020 were - 2,2 billion euros.

From the start of the year, insurance companies collected 32.2 billion euros of premiums (compared to 37.5 billion euros over the same period in 2019).

Over the same period insurance companies paid out benefits of 32.2 billion euros (29.9 billion euros in 2019). Payments to unit-linked products accounted for 11.6 billion euros from the start of the year, i.e. 36 % of premiums. 

Net inflows of the year were 0.1 billion euros (compared to 7.6 billion euros over the same period in 2019).

At end March 2020 in-force life insurance business (mathematical provisions + profit sharing provisions) stood at 1 741 billion euros (up 1 % year-on-year).
